Cut Your Losses

If a hand is not working for you, don’t go out on a limb in the hope that you are bailed out by the next card. There will be times when you might fold before you would have received a couple of well timed cards, but if your hand is not very good at the start then the odds are stacked against you - ”A bet saved is a bet earned”

Run Your Good Hands

If you have a good hand then don’t be worried about running it as far as you can, after all this is the real reason why you are playing poker, to make use of the good hands when they appear – “A poker player without bottle is like a luxury car with no fuel – it will never get anywhere”

Monitor The Cards Already Dealt

When we say monitor the cards we don’t mean count them, more a case of if three aces have been dealt and you are waiting for one, the chances of you getting that ace may be slim. If you are hanging on for a card which is very unlikely to be dealt to you then you are playing a very risky game – “Do not take your eye off the ball”

These are just some of the more basic fundamentals of poker and create a good base for any player, but the key is to stay level headed even when you are on the verge of a good win.
