Leeds venue vying to become supercasino
The new director of a major Yorkshire casino has unveiled a list of plans he hopes will help Leeds obtain its first supercasino.
Tommy Gibbons, who recently took up the reins at Leeds” multi-million pound London Clubs International casino in Clarence Dock, hopes to expand the appeal of the venue, particularly to the city’’s Greek and Chinese communities, reports TheBusinessDesk.com.
Comedy and film nights will be held at the casino and Mr Gibbons is also keen to push the venue’’s two restaurants to attract a wider audience.
He told the news provider: "People’’s perceptions of casinos in the UK traditionally is that they are mostly smoky and dark. But that has changed and we are a destination casino."
It remains to be seen whether Mr Gibbons” efforts to turn his venue into a supercasino will pay off.
Leeds is one of eight cities in the UK to have been given a licence to build one of the facilities – which are allowed more slot machines and gaming tables than regular casinos.
Even then, the venue would have a long way to go to beat Europe’’s biggest ever casino, which is due to be built in Hungary by operator Hard Rock International.
