Congressman talks Frank about online gambling

An American congressman has voiced his support in the battle to legalise online casinos in the US in an impassioned speech at the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Representative Barney Frank told almost 2,000 players at the WSOP no-limit Texas Hold ”em main event on Sunday that he viewed online gambling as a right that must be protected.

Though he may have been preaching to a converted audience, his words added weight to hopes across America that the Democrat may be able to successfully overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in congress later this year.

In the meantime, frustrated US gamers are looking across the pond to get their online casino fix.

A number of sites have started accepting deposits from US players, including Vegas Casino Online and SlotoCash Casino.

Last month, American investment bank Goldman Sachs also hinted that online casinos could soon be made legal for US gamers, which could generate an enormous $12 billion (£7 billion) industry.
